Classic Laos North 12days/11nights

Combine the classic Laos highlights of Luang Prabang and Vientiane with the emerging eco-tourism destination of Luang Namtha. The minority Hill-Tribe communities here have been involved in tourism development and are actively participating and receiving a significant part of the benefits. Classic Laos South 4days/3nights

Pakse – Si Phan Don – Tad Lo

This charming relaxed tour takes in all the major highlights of the south.  We visit the stunning UNESCO listed Khmer temple of Wat Phu, take a relaxing Mekong boat trip, and experience the friendly and laid-back village life of the Si Phan Don (four thousand islands).  We also have a very good chance to spot one of the very few populations left in the world of the rare Irrawaddy Dolphin. We then visit the most spectacular waterfalls in South East Asia and take an Elephant trek on route to the Bolaven plateau, where we stay at the lush, forested, waterfall resort of Tad Lo on the final night.

Central Highlights Discovery 8days/7nights

This innovative tour takes us off-the-beaten-track to discover some of the hidden gems of Laos, including a boat trip through the truly amazing Kong Lor Cave, a 90metre wide, 100metre high and 7.5kilometre long cavern created by a river tunneling through the mountain.  Discover the hidden waterfalls, pools, caves, lakes, and karst scenery of the Phu Hin Boun National Protected Area with a 1 day community based walk and overnight stop at an Eco-Lodge in a small village.  Experience the culture and hospitality of the villagers as they perform a traditional welcome Baci ceremony for you.  Spend some time wandering the streets and admiring the colonial architecture in the peaceful and attractive Mekong towns of Thakhek and Savannakhet before discovering some unique archeological and historical sights on the way to Pakse.

Central Highlights Trekking 11days/10nights

Vientiane – Kong Lor – Thakhek – Savannakhet

Experience some of the most beautiful, remote and untouched regions of Laos with this unique trekking itinerary.  Discover the amazing Kong Lor Cave and stay with the locals learning and experiencing village life first hand. Trek to the hidden waterfalls, pools, caves, lakes and karst scenery of the Phu Hin Boun National Protected Area. Trek through lush jungle and enjoy the stunning scenery and amazing panoramas of the Dong Phu Vieng National Protected Area perhaps spotting Hornbills and Langur Leaf Monkeys along the way.  Stay with locals at a “Katang” village where an overpowering belief Animism (spirit worship) still prevails, providing a unique insight into this ancient way-of-life.  Rest and recuperate in between treks in comfort, and enjoy the Mekong sunset with a “Beer Lao” at the peaceful and attractive riverside towns of Thakhek and Savannakhet.

Vientiane to Vieng Xai 10days/9nights

Vientiane – Luang Prabang – Phonsavanh – Sam Neua – Vieng Xai

After experiencing the “classic” destinations of Vientiane, Luang Prabang and the Plain of Jars we head east towards the Vietnam border on paths-less-trodden to Sam Neua.  The drive here itself is maybe the most spectacular in Laos passing through barely accessible mountains and jungle with some interesting stops at remote villages along the way.  In Sam Neua we have some time to explore this quiet riverside town with its interesting mix of ethnic groups, colourful markets, weaving workshops, and revolutionary history, We then drive through lush valleys and striking limestone karsts to Vieng Xai where the extensive cave network used by the Pathet Lao to hide and conduct their military operations during the war has recently opened to tourists.  We take the guided tour of the caves followed by a pleasant stroll to some nearby villages.  For onward travel we continue our off-the-beaten-track adventure into Vietnam via the remote border crossing of Na Meo.  It is also possible to drive to Nong Keaw and return to Luang Prabang by boat.

Discover Kong Lor Cave and Thakhek 4days/3nights

Vientiane – Kong Lor – Thakhek

Discover some unique sights and views on the way to the truly amazing Kong Lor Cave.  We enjoy a spectacular boat trip through the 7.5km Kong Lor Cave and then continue by boat through some of the most untouched scenery in Laos to our riverside Eco-lodge accommodation.  We then head to the peaceful and relaxed Mekong riverside town of Thakhek and spend some exploring the colonial architecture and some other surrounding sights.

Visit Luang Prabang 3days/2nights

Vientiane – Luang Prabang – (Vientiane)

The world famous UNESCO Listed World Heritage site.  Take a guided tour of this beautiful city including a visit to Wat Xieng Thong, the most important former royal temple.  View the stunning surrounding scenery and the sunset from the temple at the top of Mount Phousi in the city centre, and then spend some time shopping at the vibrant night market. Visit the spectacular Koung Si waterfalls stopping at villages along the way and take a Mekong cruise to the Pak Ou caves returning at sunset.  Some free time is also included to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some of the many other attractions of the city.

Visit Phonsavanh and the Plain Of Jars 3days/2nights

Vientiane – Phonsavanh – Vientiane

An itinerary of contrasts; investigate the beauty and mysteries surrounding the UNESCO listed archeological Plain of Jars sites.  Explore the surrounding villages and discover how the famous sticky rice whiskey (lao lao) is produced.  Then visit UXO Laos www.uxolaos.org and see in action the great work that the teams are doing in clearing the unexploded ordinance left over from the war, an issue that still affects everyday lives in the region. You will have some time to visit the vibrant local produce market, and have the opportunity to help out at an English school for a short while, a rewarding experience for everyone.

Visit Phou Khao Khouay National Protected Area. 2days/1night

Vientiane – Phou Khao Khouay - Vientiane

Just 1hours drive from Vientiane is this stunning National Protected Area with some great trekking and beautiful swimming spots at the bottom of waterfalls.  On overnight stay at the viewing tower here also means that we a have a realistic chance of seeing the herd of wild Elephants that roam here.

Visit Nam Ngum 1day

This morning we take a scenic drive through local rice fields and mountains. On arrival at Nam Ngum lake area we enjoy a traditional Lao lunch at a lake view restaurant.  From one of the lakeside villages we take a cruise around some of the many picturesque islands. On our return trip to Vientiane we stop at a sticky rice whisky (lao lao) distillation village and a Hmong hill-tribe fresh produce market.

Vientiane City Tour 1/2day or 1 day

Vientiane – (Buddha Park)

Take the classic ½ day city tour visiting the main attractions of the capital city.  We visit That Luang Stupa - the most important religious site in the country said to contain some bones of the Buddha, Wat Sisaket the oldest and most unique temple, Haw Phra Kaeo which formerly housed the famous Emerald Buddha, and Patuxai the “Arc de Triomphe” of Vientiane.  The 1day tour includes some time to browse through the diverse morning market, a visit to the National Musuem and an afternoon trip out to the fabulously bizarre world of Xieng Khuan (Buddha Park) – a collection of weird and wonderful Buddhist and Hindu sculptures.
